Contour hands
I Take Risks
For this project I took risks because the hands were drawn blind, and not to mention with pen. I have never done such a thing before so this was very hard to do. I also used a new technique called contour line drawing. This was done last year but i was absent that day, so this was new as well. Overall this was a big risk for me to take.
I Solve Problems
The problem I had was that I couldn't see what I was drawing. This was very difficult for me especially when I first started. I was able to solve this by just relaxing and drawing what I saw. It was also tough for me to draw in pen because I mess up a lot, but this was solved by just letting the screw ups go.
I Reflect
I took a step back after I thought I had captured every line, because after all these were blind drawings, and I looked at how well my Mind and hand could work together. I was shocked to see that they work surprisingly well. In fact I found some of the blind ones to be better than some of the modified ones. I did notice however that it was challenging to draw the fingers that were extremely bent, which is something I could work on.

Backpack
I Developed my Art Making Skills
This project was a bit challenging for me because I hadn't really drawn from life before. This taught me how to look at an object and get a sense of depth, and it taught me how to apply that sense to my art. It also taught me that I shouldn't pay attention to the outline, but the small inner details.
We Collaborate
I did end up asking a few people for feedback on this. The first person was Vaugn, who's name I don't know how to spell. The second person was Corey. I always get feedback from him because he is a good friend of mine, so we can be brutally honest with each other, to a certain extent. Last was Noah. He is just overall a really nice kid, and he always has something nice to say when it comes down to it.
I take Risks
The big risk made here was trying to draw the backpack at a sort of difficult position. I didn't want to just get a front angle because there wouldn't be much detail. I didn't want a side profile because it would be kind of boring and there wouldn't be much depth. For the best composition, I went with a diagonal angle from slightly above, which was a little more difficult, but made it more interesting.

Contour room
I Create Original Art
For this I decided to take the project a little further. The idea was to get a contour line drawing of the room, so an example of this was put up on the projector screen. I decided to draw the example in my project to make mine different from everyone else's I took inspiration from the movie inception, because the movie is about a dream within a dream, and I drew a drawing within a drawing.
I Communicate Through my Artwork
Though this project was not intended to have a deeper meaning than just drawing a room, I added one anyways. I added thought that everything in the world is art already by adding the example drawing inside of the drawing showing that the world is already filled with art.
I Reflect
Seeing as this was the last contour drawing we made, I decided to look and see what is different from my first one. I had seen that so much had improved. My first ones were accused of being to "sketchy" and this one was done like an actual contour drawing, and I even was able to add in perspective.

Shapes (shaded)
I Take Risks
I took risks because I always leave my values on the brighter side, so I decided to crush the blacks and add in some much darker values. I also decided to use charcoal pencil, which I had never used before. To my surprise, I really liked it, but it's very messy.
I Developed my Art Making Skills
Shading was always hard for me because I could never get it to look realistic. This project helped me because I was able to draw these shapes and make them look 3D. It helped to draw the shapes from life instead of from imagination.
I Solve Problems
My problem was that I was having trouble getting the full range of value. I was able to solve this by switching to the charcoal pencil which allowed the blacks to be much darker. another problem was that it was hard for me to get smooth transitions with the charcoal pencil, which I was able to fix with the vine charcoal.

Value charts
I Developed my Art Making Skills
Drawing these charts helped me because it literally charted the different values. I could see the full range and it helped me a lot instead of just drawing one side of the spectrum or the other. It also developed my skills because it was my first time drawing on black paper. This showed me the same thing but in a different way, and it's always good to get a different perspective on things.
We Collaborate
On the value chart, I showed it to blaze and we critiqued each other. We both came to a conclusion that we did in fact have a full range of values.
I Reflect
After looking at blaze's work, I was able to conclude that I did pretty good, but I could've made the brighter values even brighter by making smoother transitions. other than that, there's not much else to say.

Fabric
I Take Risks
This drawing was done in charcoal. I had never done a charcoal drawing of this scale before, but I wanted to get a full scale of value sense that was what this project was about. It was tough to do and I even restarted because I didn't count on it being that hard to capture the folds of the fabric using a vine charcoal.
I Developed my Art Making Skills
This project was the most beneficial to me because I was able to use all of what I had learned about value and put it into a picture. Fabric was an excellent choice for this idea because It has a lot of good shadows and highlights to draw. It also helped me think about composition because this was my first time using the view finders.
I Reflect
Sense shading was what I really wanted to learn by taking this class, I wanted to see what I was able to accomplish, especially since it had been only a week. I was surprised to see that it was very realistic. I did however notice that I could have used more brighter highlights, but overall I was very impressed.

White ribbon
I Developed my Art Making Skills
This was another big one for me because it helped me accomplish what I really wanted to accomplish by taking this class. This really helped my shading because it was done on black paper. This forced me to really have to think about what I was doing, and made my shading much better in the long run. It also helped because the ribbon was curved and flipped over itself. this gave it that depth and added shadows and intersections.
We Collaborate
I got feedback from multiple people to see where I was in terms of how it looks. I talked to Blaze, and Corey. They both said it looked pretty good and I agreed with them. They also asked me about their's and I gave them different responses. I told blaze something similar to what he told me and I gave Corey a little constructed criticism because he needed to work on his value transitions.
I Reflect
Overall I thought I did a decent job on this. I did a good job on my values, but they were a little messy. Nothing too bad. I like what I did with the blue ribbon because I added some white prismacolor to the highlights which made them pop a bit more. I also just liked the idea of the ribbon on the black paper.

Still life progression
Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of my still life progression. I will do better next time. However I can still talk about it. At first it was tough to try and find a good composition, but when I finally did I started on the project and failed. I had to restart and the second one turned out much better.
Still Life
I Create Original Art
This piece is original because I saw what everybody else was doing. Everyone was either doing The Nintendo controller, the gas mask, or something out of my view. So I decided to find a piece that nobody was doing and focus on that. I chose to focus on the wine bottle and umbrella. Of course, I couldn't leave out the epic Nintendo controller completely, so I was able to add in the controller cord.
I Take Risks
My pencil set came with a pencil made of pure graphite. I had never even heard of this before so I decided to try it out. It did not work very well and it ended up being so dark that I had to restart. This picture is of the second try and I like this one much better.
I Reflect
This was the first big project so I thought I did very well on it. The bottle looks round, the sheets look like sheets and the umbrella had a good range of value on it. I probably could have made the umbrella darker so that it was easier to see when the sheet ends and the umbrella begins, but you can still kinda tell. Overall, I think this project was a success.

PROGRESSIVE DRAWING
For some reason the formatting will only let me do this.
I Developed my Art Making Skills This project was much easier to do than I thought it would be. The tough part was getting the foil to look realistic. I also didn't want to go too dark, so that I could show the highlights more. |
We Collaborate
While I was working, I received many more comments about how good it looked than any other project so far. The comments even came from people I don't know. These words did help me figure out that I can be satisfied with my work, as I often never did before. I Reflect Overall I think this project was a success. It really does look like an unfolding Hershey kiss. However, I do feel like I could have added some darker values, especially to places that could use more depth. |
Perspective Drawing
I create original Art
For this prohect i decided to do an interesting perspective and use some forshortening. It is a picture from an ant's perspective and someone is squishing said ant. I wanted to do something that nonbody else would really do.
I developed My Art Making Skills
Before this I didnt know how to use forshortening. it always looked wrong. but while doing this I was able to figure it out.
I Take Risks
I took a risk by adding my face to the picture. For me faces are hard. Especially sense it was far away and smaller. The picture was also kinda blurry so that made things harder, but I was able to do it

Dum Dums
This was my first time using prisma colors
Colored Eggs
This was my first use of pastels
Jolly Rancher
This is my attempt to make a transparent wrapper with wrinkles. Id say it worked.
Opacity
I Create Original Art
I wanted to do something different for this project so I went with something based off of Jurassic Park. I went with a dinosaur embryo in a test tube much like the shaving cream canister from the movie. We have no idea what a dino embryo actually looks like so with the help of some references I created my own interpretation.
I Developed My Art Making Skills
For this project we had to use color which I was not fond of. I chose to use Prismacolors as that was the best option. I have had almost no practice with prismacolors so this was a big risk. When I was working I didnt have the right colors that I wanted so the whole thing was a blend of colors.
I Take Risks
For this drawing I wanted to put the dino in the center of the page but this is against the rules. So I put two other dinosaurs on either side of the main one. I also added a sort of fish-eye effect that draws your eye to the center.

Facial features practice
The eyes when i first tried them were not the hardest thing in the world because I had already had experience with them. This time I was able to show more value in areas like below the upper eyelid. The lips were the hardest part of the facial features and I cannot get them to look right. If I try to make it look like someone in particular it never works out. The nose was ok for me because I had a basic understanding on how to draw them. I knew that it was all in the shading, however this time around it looked better than in the past.
skull
I Developed My Art Making Skills
This helped my skills because of the way we drew it. having the skull there helped me get the shape and proportions right. I also got a chance to practice shading the face. It was supposed to look like me and you can see the general look, but it wasn't very good in that aspect.
I Solve Problems
This was more of me attempting to solve a problem than actually solving it. Throughout the whole time I was looking at it and thinking it didn't look like me. It actually looked just like my dad instead. To compensate, I tried tweaking every part slightly until it looked right, and although it looks better, I still don't think I completely captured my self.
I Reflect
Overall it's a decent picture for my first attempt to actually draw myself using the newly acquired knowledge. I didn't completely capture myself but I did well on the shading. I will say I didn't go nearly as dark as I should have.

Self Portrait
I Developed My Art Making Skills
As you can see this project looks much better than the skull project. I also made sure to go darker than I thought I needed, and You can't tell in these pictures but the hair is actually darker than what these show. It also looks more like me, and yes, the eyes are supposed to be white. That's what zombie eyes look like.
I Take Risks
I didn't like the size of the paper you gave me. It was huge. However I tried it anyways, and It took longer than usual and I got a lot of graphite on my arms but It looks good and I'm glad I did it.
I Create Original Art
This drawing is original because it is a drawing of me as a zombie. The mouth area is ripped open because of my inability to draw decent lips. So I thought it would be good to replace that with a zombie mouth, which I think is the best part of the piece.

Scratch Board
I Create Original Art
For this project we had to show movement. I also wanted to take this project to try out forshortening as it seemed like a good idea with the prompt. I decided to go with Thor throwing a hammer because it was a perfect example of forshortening. I also used a unique style that I thought would look good with the scratchboard.
I Take Risks
This project was a risk because I wanted to try a different style. This stylr was a risk because it wasnt the most realostic looking style.
I Developed My Art Making Skills
My art skills were developed because I didn't have much experience with scratchboards. It is a very different processs from normal drawings. After a while it became almost second nature to me and I am really glad we tried it.

Gesture Drawings
This project showed me how to get the basic shape of a figure in a shirt amount of time. This is a very important skill and you can see from the best and worse how muvh this helped.
Skeleton
This prooject showed me the human body's proportions. It also helped because it had to be fully shaded and that gave me some extra practice.
Figure Drawing
I Developed My Art Making Skills
This project developed my art skills because it was the first full sized thing I have ever drawn.
I Take Risks
It was hard to do cause the proportions had to be perfect. It made it worse since the pictures were sized based on me and Corey is shorter than me. Therefore you might see that corey is not completely life size on the page. It was harder to do still because it was charcoal. I mostly used the messy charcoal that smears all over so eventually I just gave up and just drew which made it look better because I was more focused.
I Reflect
All in all I think this was very successful. I can ser that I should have added more value to the face but the clothing looks good. For the last project it was pretty good.
